ILLUSTRATOR-FILES

When using Illustrator, it is very important to take account of the following points:

  • Save the document made up as 'EPS' and not as 'Illustrator file'. You do this on the menu bar by selecting 'File', 'Save as', and then clicking on 'EPS'.
  • Own colours can only be defined with CMYK values
  • To produce deep black: 100% K + 10% C.
  • Make font contours of any text for which you are not supplying the font together with the file, in order to avoid that a font that is not available cannot be flashed. You do this by selecting 'text' on the menu bar, and then clicking on the 'make font contours' option.
  • Image material in an Illustrator file must be placed as a TIFF, CMYK or EPS CMYK file. For the rest of the characteristics, the same rules apply as for digital material.
  • Pantone colours must be converted to CMYK colours. This is to ensure correct CMYK flashing on film. Convert Pantone to CMYK colours is done as follows: double-click on the used Pantone colour in the palet "watches". Set colour mode to "CMYK" and "colourtype" to procescolour..
  • Keep the document as small as possible in order to limit the size of the bounding box. The smaller the size of the bounding box, the easier it is to flash the document, or to transfer it to another system.

Denomination:

It is not allowed to use unfamiliar symbols such as / \ * | < > [ ], to denominate the delivered files. The best signs you can use to divide names are _ and -

When using Illustrator, it is very important to take account of the following points:

  • Save both images and the document (parsed) or link and send the images with the document (placed).
